Privacy Policy

Overview

BetterCal is an Android widget app that displays your Google Tasks. It operates entirely on your device — there is no BetterCal server, no account system, and no data collection of any kind.

Google user data — what we access

BetterCal requests one Google API scope: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/tasks.readonly. This gives the app read-only access to your Google Tasks, specifically: task titles, due dates, notes, and completion status. No other Google data (e.g. contacts, email, calendar events, or profile information) is accessed or requested.

Google user data — how we use it

The task data retrieved via the Tasks API is used solely to render the BetterCal widget on your home screen. It is not analyzed, processed for advertising, used to build profiles, or used for any purpose beyond displaying your tasks to you.

Google user data — sharing with third parties

Your Google Tasks data is never shared with any third party. BetterCal contains no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting services, no advertising networks, and no other third-party code that could receive your data. The data is used exclusively on your device.

Google user data — storage and protection

All data stays on your Android device. The OAuth access token issued by Google is stored in Android's secure application storage, accessible only to BetterCal. Task data is cached locally solely to render the widget and is never transmitted to any external server — including servers operated by us. We have no server infrastructure that handles user data.

Google user data — retention and deletion

BetterCal does not retain data beyond what is needed to display the widget. Because all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by:

• Disconnecting your Google account inside the app, or
• Uninstalling BetterCal (this removes all locally cached data), or
• Revoking BetterCal's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Revoking access in your Google account immediately prevents BetterCal from fetching any further data. No data is held on any server, so there is no server-side deletion step required.

Google OAuth authentication

Sign-in is handled entirely by Google via OAuth 2.0. BetterCal never sees, receives, or stores your Google password or credentials. Your continued use of Google Tasks is also governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

This landing page uses no cookies, no analytics scripts, no tracking pixels, and no fingerprinting. No information about your visit is recorded.

Children's privacy

BetterCal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we ever make changes, the updated policy will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes will be announced via @andrazrdlf.
